The Kent committee won the Beaufort Shield in recognition of their fundraising efforts. Committee chairman Charles Tassell collected their prize from Lord Plumb at R.A.B.I’s annual awards ceremony in Oxfordshire.
The award is given to the county which has raised the most funds through the efforts of the committee. In 2017, the Kent committee raised an impressive £81,065 with a range of fundraising events, from farmhouse breakfasts to ploughing matches.
Jousha Hosier, R.A.B.I deputy chairman, said: “The Kent Committee are very strong, long-standing and hard working. Year-on-year they raise substantial sums of money through their programme of events.”
Charles Tassell added: “We come up with ideas and get things done, but we rely on our regional manager to help us put it together. Sally Field is excellent with the amount of work she does for us. And of course, we know that it’s all about helping people.”
