The Leicestershire committee won the East Midlands regional prize at R.A.B.I’s awards ceremony in Oxfordshire. Committee chair Veronica Sutton, Pat Bailey and Sally Lane collected the award from NFU vice president Stuart Roberts.
Last year, the committee took on a new challenge and held a race meet at the Leicester race course. They organised hospitality, store holders, a raffle and a tombola. The event was a huge success and raised £6,000.
Joshua Hosier, R.A.B.I deputy chairman, said: “They are determined, incredibly organised and completely self-reliant, taking challenges head-on and running many annual events including the clay shoot, a golf day, a chairman’s lunch and harvest festival. They do all of this with a great sense of fun and adventure. We are very lucky to have them.”
