Supporters will be holding a ‘Love Lamb Week’ fundraiser at Aberaeron Rugby Club on Saturday September 8.
The Ceredigion committee is organising the event to promote Welsh lamb as well as the charity’s work. On the menu will be Shepherds Pie, with the lamb kindly donated by Theresa and Gary Glover of Plwmp.
Stephen Hunt, honorary president of the committee, explained: “The idea for this event initially came from my dear wife Chris, who passed away in 2016. She said she would love to see all the men on the committee preparing a meal for the ladies. We’ll be doing all the preparation and cooking, as well as waiting on the ladies. It’s a challenge that us men are all up for. I’m sure we will have a fabulous evening.”
Euros Davies, committee chair, added: “Welsh Lamb is a great product and it’s important for us as a farming industry to remind the general public that it is a tasty, nutritious and versatile product. We have many sheep farmers in Ceredigion and believe that supporting Love Lamb Week, as a committee, is the right thing to do.”
Love Lamb Week, which begins on September 1, is an industry-wide initiative involving the Agriculture & Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), the National Sheep Association (NSA), the National Farmers’ Union (NFU), Red Tractor, Hybu Cig Cymru, the Livestock & Meat Commission (Northern Ireland) and Quality Meat Scotland.
Tickets for this two-course meal are limited but can be obtained from Stephen Hunt on 01545 580233 (£15 each).
