The Monmouthshire Livestock Centre in Raglan glowed with festive lights and decorations as the show ring became the focus of a carol evening for farmers.
The Monmouthshire committee put on the event, which featured a range of local artists including Ellen Morgan, Isobel Chandler, children of the Monmouthshire Hunt Pony Club, Angharad Gwillim, Wendy Williams, Peter Williams, David Williams and Heather Probert. A Christmas tableau was performed by members of Raglan and Usk YFCs and Bob’s Boys led the audience in a rousing Christmas carol sing-along. Bob’s Boys are members of the Monmouth Male Voice Choir. Richard Wadley accompanied the musicians.
Linda Jones, regional manager for Wales, said: “From January to November this year, R.A.B.I has given out around £253k in Wales, a 22% increase on the same period last year (£207k).
“We’ve seen a notable 94% rise in the amount we’ve given to Welsh working families – £123k from January to November, compared to £63k for the same period in 2017.”
Monmouthshire county chairman Gwilym Richards added: “2018 has been a tough year for many in farming, which is why events like this are important – not just to raise valuable funds, but also to the bring the community together at a special time of year.”
For many, Christmas can be the loneliest time of year. Can help us spread some festive cheer by supporting our Christmas Hamper Campaign?
