More than 70 people attended a World War II themed evening at Pandy Village Hall in Monmouthshire to coincide with Remembrance celebrations. The event raised £812 for farming.
The World War II night was arranged by R.A.B.I’s Monmouthshire committee. Guests rolled back the years with a wartime supper of corn beef hash, roasted swedes and carrots followed by bread and butter pudding. The J Birds performed classics such as ‘Pack up your Troubles’, ‘In the Mood’ and ‘White Cliffs of Dover’, whilst the popular band ‘Shades of Gray’ kept the music pumping.
Prizes were awarded to the best dressed gent and lady from the 1940s and these went to Sarah Byford and Tony Tagg respectively.
David Spencer, Monmouthshire committee member and organiser, said: “We had some fabulous artists and it was great to see so many people turning up in their 1940s costumes. It was a night of socialising, dancing and listening to some fabulous wartime songs.”
The Remembrance event was supported by local businesses R M Jones and Anthony A Davies Ltd.
