Joan Watkins was awarded the North Wales regional prize for her contribution to R.A.B.I. She collected her award from Lord Plumb at a ceremony in Oxfordshire.
Joan joined the Montgomeryshire committee as their first secretary 20 years ago, and has been a dedicated committee member ever since, returning to the role as secretary in recent years.
Joshua Hosier, R.A.B.I deputy chairman, said: “She helps out at every event that she can, getting involved in a range of events and activities, all undertaken with gusto. She’s been instrumental in setting up and organising the Welshpool Livestock Market Carol service, an annual event which has pulled in thousands of pounds for R.A.B.I over the years.”
Joan added: “I’m proud to be associated with such a wonderful charity and I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to meet so many people.”
