The first ‘Not So Young Farmers Rally’, organised by the East Yorkshire committee, welcomed hundreds of ex-yfc members to Rose Farm in Seaton Ross.
Teams had a chance to take part in 40 classes, including a caricature competition, stockjudging, tractor handling, and a ‘breakfast castle’ contest. The judges were all current YFC members, including R.A.B.I’s own Verenique Beviere, fundraising coordinator for the north.
At the end of the day, the teams competed in obstacle and water races, which ended with everyone getting soaked.
The final score was close, with only a handful of points separating the top three teams. The winners were ‘Once Rivals, Now Friends’, a team made up of ex members of the Beacon, Beverley and Brandesburton clubs.
Sally Conner, regional manager North East said: “We’ve had some tremendous support for the Not-So-Young Farmers Rally and interest from all different generations. It was also great to have the involvement of the current young farmers as our judges and stewards on the day.”
