The Oxfordshire committee won the Beaufort Shield in recognition of their fundraising efforts. Committee members Stephen Bitmead and Nicola Boaden collected the shield from NFU vice president Stuart Roberts at R.A.B.I’s awards ceremony in Oxfordshire.
The award is given to the county which has raised the most funds through the efforts of the committee. Last year, the Oxfordshire committee held their prestigious biennial fundraising dinner at Christ Church College. Around 300 people attended the event and Lydia Slack, a former UN intern and model, was the guest speaker.
In addition, several thousand pounds are raised each summer selling steak sandwiches at Truck Festival, which is held on committee member and R.A.B.I trustee Richard Binning’s family farm.
Joshua Hosier, R.A.B.I deputy chairman, said: “Congratulations and a huge thank you to our Oxfordshire committee and all of our many supporters across the county.”
