RABI Chief Executive Alicia Chivers was invited to attend the second annual Farm to Fork Summit, which took place at 10 Downing Street on Tuesday 14 May. The summit welcomed over 100 UK food and farming representatives and Cabinet ministers to join in highlighting the vital role of the agricultural sector and open collaborative discussions about how best to support the farming communities at its heart.

After an opportunity to connect with other attendees, guests were addressed by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak before breaking into groups to discuss the various challenges to British farming. Alicia’s group was chaired by Jo Churchill MP, Minister of State for the Department of Work and Pensions, and considered the complexities and opportunities presented as we grow the next generation of farming people.

“Our thanks to the Prime Minister for the invitation to contribute at this morning’s Farm to Fork Summit discussions at Number 10”, said Alicia.

“It was good to engage directly with such a diverse group from across the food supply chain on how we can all play a role in supporting the wellbeing of farming people in a resilient and flourishing farming sector,” Alicia continued.

The Prime Minister also announced a package of measures to support British farming and a new UK Annual Food Security Index to monitor UK-wide food security and the impacts of external factors.
