Registration is now open for the Virtual Tour of Pembrokeshire, an online cycling event raising funds for R.A.B.I.
The annual event typically attracts more than 1,500 riders to Pembrokeshire’s scenic countryside. Since it looked like the event would have to be cancelled, organiser Peter Walker decided to take things online.
Starting from May 16, supporters can complete virtual routes either in their own homes or outside following government guidance over the coming weeks. Cyclists can register to take part via the event’s website: hub.tourofpembrokeshire.co.uk
By registering, participants can share their stories and photos on the hub. They’ll also join the event’s Just Giving team to help fundraise. Whoever raises the most money by August 31 will win a pair of Kysrium Elite wheels and tyres worth around £600, kindly donated by Mavic UK.
The Rt Hon Stephen Crabbe MP added his support to the event. He said: “It is wonderful to see the organisers rise to the challenge and provide an alternative experience for fans of the Tour. The Virtual Tour of Pembrokeshire is a brilliant piece of innovation and brings the delights and rigours of the route into cyclists’ homes while supporting a very important charity for our community.”
