|Four of our team were honoured to represent RABI and farming people at a Coronation Royal Garden Party hosted by King Charles III at Buckingham Palace.
On Wednesday 3 May, a few days ahead of the Coronation of King Charles III, four of the RABI team were honoured to attend a Royal Garden Party. Hosted by His Majesty at Buckingham Palace, the invitation was in their words, ‘a once in a lifetime opportunity’.
Kim Claxton, our national volunteering manager, was joined by Lauren Codling, regional manager for the North West, and regional support managers Gemma Lee and Lindsay Derbyshire.
The invitations kindly came from His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester – our charity president – to recognise the incredible work undertaken by our teams.
A privilege to meet our Royal President
For many years, RABI has been very fortunate to have a Royal President – in addition to our longstanding Royal Patronage prior to the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. As our President, HRH the Duke of Gloucester continues to take an active interest in our work and provide support wherever he is able to do so.
The team were thrilled to have chance to express their gratitude to him personally at the Royal Garden Party, says Lindsay.
“It was a real privilege to meet the Duke and discuss the many ways in which we support our farming community with a person-centred approach.”
“The one-to-one support we give to the farming community is in complete confidence and it was an honour to represent the many farming people contacting our RABI helpline daily.”
A wonderful day of celebration
Reflecting on the highlights of the Royal Garden Party, Lauren shares:
“It was very special to be introduced to both the Duke of Gloucester and the Duke of Kent in the grounds of Buckingham Palace, along with seeing King Charles and Queen Camilla from afar!
“I’m so thankful to have shared this amazing opportunity with three of my wonderful RABI colleagues.”
Lindsay adds one of her favourite memories from the day.
“One of the highlights for me was hearing tales from the Gentleman Ushers about their different experiences in serving the royal households over the years and tips on how to get the most from our unforgettable day at the Palace.”
