Applications are now closed.
We are sorry to announce our Return to School Campaign has now closed and we are not accepting any further grant applications.
The team have experienced a very high level of demand for this grant and are working through all the applications as quickly as possible. Though we cannot guarantee all applications will be processed and grants paid by the beginning of September, we will endeavour to process them as as soon as we can.
We ask that you give us 21 days to contact you about your grant before enquiring about your application status. We would also like to reassure you that if you have been issued with a unique identifying number prior to the application date closing, your application will be processed. If 21 days have passed since your application and you would like to check on the status, please call RABI’s 24/7 helpline on 0800 188 4444.
If you have missed the final closing date, but your family need help please call our 24/7 helpline 0800 188 4444 or email us at rts@rabi.org.uk and a member of the team will be in touch to discuss your specific support needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Q: Why are the grants £250 per family this year?
We had an incredible response to our Return to School Campaign in 2022. This year, we want to be able to reach even more farming families in need with a contribution towards the cost of their children returning to school.
2. Q: How many grants will be available?
There are 2,000 grants available. They will be released in two discrete phases of 1000 grants per phase with a break in the middle, to allow people time to apply.
3. Q: Is the grant available to farm workers?
The grant is available to families whose main source of employment comes from farming including farm workers.
4. Q: What are the eligibility criteria for the grant?
If a parent or legal caregiver of a school child aged 4 – 16 years, is currently working or has worked in farming for more than 2 years, or is the cohabiting partner of a farmer/ farm worker currently working or has worked for more than 2 years in farming, then they could receive £250 per household.
5. Q: Does this apply for farming people in Scotland?
Unfortunately, only those living in England, Wales or Northern Ireland are eligible for the grant.
6. Q: Do I need to provide anything for my application?
Yes, we will need photo ID, proof of child benefit and 1 month bank statement.
7. Q: How do I know you have received my application?
You will receive an acknowledgement email containing a unique identifying number (UIN) and details of the next step in the process when you submit your initial application on the website. Please check your spam and junk folders if this has not been delivered to your inbox within four (4) hours.
8. Q: I haven’t got access to the internet to make an application. Is there another way?
The quickest way to apply is through our website, but if you are unable to apply in this way, please contact our helpline on 0800 188 4444 and a member of the team will be in touch to help you make an application.
9. Q: I am having difficulty uploading my documents on the website
Your application is likely to be processed quicker if you can upload your documents online, but if you have difficulty doing this a member of the team can assist with this when they call you to process the next step of your application.
10. Q: What happens after I have submitted my initial application on the website?
A member of the RABI team will be in contact with you to discuss your application and ask you some questions, within 21 days of you making your application. If you were unable to submit the documents required on our website, we will talk you through how to send these to us. If your application is approved, we will aim to make payment by 1 September.
11. Q: I haven’t heard from anyone, and I am worried that the campaign will close before my application is processed.
If you have been issued with a unique identifying number (UIN) prior to the campaign closing date, your application will be processed. We ask you to give us 21 days to contact you before enquiring about your application status. When the campaign closes you will see a webpage advising the campaign is now closed and we will be taking no further applications. If, however, you apply whilst the campaign is still open and there is an error, meaning you did not receive a UIN, please contact rts@rabi.org.uk with your query. Or if a member of the RABI team has not contacted you within 21 days of receiving your UIN, please email us on rts@rabi.org.uk quoting your UIN.
12. Q: If I have missed the final closing date, but my family need help, where can I go?
Please call our 24hr helpline 0800 188 4444 or email us at help@rabi.org.uk and a member of the team will be in touch to discuss your support needs. You can also find more information on the support RABI offers under How we help on our website. information www.rabi.org.uk
