The Staffordshire branch of NFU celebrated 100 years since their formation with a dinner at the county showground. They raised £1,000 with a raffle at the event.
Records show that the first meeting of the Staffordshire NFU committee was held at the Swan Hotel in Stafford, May 1919. They have a number of other events planned following the dinner, including a midsummer black tie event in June.
Kate Jones, regional manager for the West Midlands, said: “I’d like to thank Staffordshire NFU for thinking of R.A.B.I while they celebrate their centenary. The funds raised from the raffle will go towards helping farming people in financial need.”
