The Caerphilly Ladies Choir headlined this year’s Christmas concert at the Talgarth Town Hall. The event raised £506.56.
The concert was organised by the Brecon & Radnor committee and chair Elaine Stephens welcomed guests and artists. The Caerphilly Ladies Choir, expertly conducted by new musical director Ellie Baker, thrilled people with a mixed repertoire that included traditional pieces, pop songs and carols. Sophie Jones, a local farmer’s daughter and a sixth former at Ysgol Ystalyfera, also enthralled with some Welsh language favourites. Talented Sophie has previously sung with Only Girls Aloud in South Africa and opera great Bryn Terfel.
Talybont-on-Usk farmer Glasnant Morgan received rapturous applause for his renditions of Ol’ Man River and If I Only Had Time. The musicians were accompanied by Beverley Baker, Cheryl Davies and Rebecca Games, whilst Andrew Bufton oversaw sound and lighting.
Elaine Stephens said: “Our performers were outstanding and contributed greatly to a special evening.”
Paul Greenow, vice-chair, added: “R.A.B.I has given out over £30,000 in grants this year to families in Brecon & Radnor. We’re proud of the support we can offer to families who are finding life difficult. It’s been a challenging year for many in the farming sector.”
In addition to proceeds from the concert, £90.50 was generated on the night from the sale of R.A.B.I Christmas cards.
