TREC presenting a cheque of £2,000 to RABI's South West Regional Manager Zoe Gascoyne

On Thursday 13 February, the Tamar Restoration and Engineering Club (TREC) presented a cheque of £2,003 to RABI following the completion of one of their projects.

TREC was formed in 2017 when a group of retired friends began restoring an old Nuffield tractor that was gathering dust in one of their barns. Week by week, the tractor came back to life, and once the renovation was complete, it looked as good as new with a shiny coat of orange paint.

Proud of their achievement and with a new-found camaraderie through their close working relationship, the group went on to tackle other restoration projects. As word spread, more vintage vehicles and items were brought to them.

TREC has now grown into a group of ten community-minded individuals united by a passion for all things engineering-related. Some of its members have engineering experience, while others have backgrounds in farming, the probation service and business. Together, they work on mechanical projects, sharing tools, resources and knowledge on a completely voluntary basis.

Most of their renovation work is on behalf of third parties, with an agreed donation to the club. Once completed, the cost of any new parts is subtracted, and the club donates to a chosen charity. The group raised funds for RABI through their Land Rover renovation project, which they undertook on behalf of James Allibone. This involved a full rebuild of the vehicle with extensive repairs and upgrades.

RABI is deeply grateful for TREC’s thoughtful donation and the dedication behind it. These funds will help us continue to provide vital support to the farming community across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
