Residents of Frognall, Lincolnshire, celebrated VE Day by taking afternoon tea in their gardens. Christine Bish, Cambridgeshire committee chair, organised the event and handed out DIY bunting packs to her neighbours. Many villagers made a donation to R.A.B.I via Just Giving as a thank you to Christine.
Some wore themed costumes while others raided their wardrobes to find red, white and blue outfits. 1940s music entertained the residents with a Toast to ‘The Heroes of WW2’ being proposed in the afternoon. Friends and neighbours socialised at a safe distance from their front gardens.
Christine said: “All in all, it was a super community event giving residents the opportunity to meet neighbours they may not have met before and one which would not have happened without lockdown. Everyone who took part is already looking forward to the next one.”
