A welly themed beef supper, hosted by Dodd & Co in Carlisle and organised by the Cumbria committee, raised £600.
Guests were treated to Beef Bourguignonne with a pastry welly, followed by a deconstructed plumb crumble with a welly shortbread biscuit.
Simon Wood, owner of The Warm Welly Company, was the guest speaker at the event. He spoke about how he founded the company and its pledge to R.A.B.I. In October, The Warm Welly Company is supporting R.A.B.I’s ‘Welly Week’ campaign by providing wellies for the daily giveaway competition.
Simon said: “We’re delighted to support a rural charity like R.A.B.I and we’re looking forward to Welly Week to help raise awareness of what they do. Farming can be a very lonely place. There is so much uncertainty about the future of farming that I am sure R.A.B.I will be kept busy.
“This event was a great platform for businesses to network and raise funds for farming families in need. Dodd & Co were perfect hosts and supper was fantastic, with the committee serving up real farmhouse flavours – and the perfectly cut wellingtons were a great success.”
Georgina Lamb, North West regional manager, added: “As Simon is a farmer, he understands and empathises with the challenges farming families face so we are delighted to receive support from him and The Warm Welly Company this year.”
