Shropshire committee member Christine Downes won the West Midlands regional volunteer’s prize at R.A.B.I’s annual awards ceremony.
Christine has been on the committee for more than 20 years. She has taken the lead on many events over the years, rallying in helpers, sourcing food and arranging entertainment. She also writes a regular piece in the Shropshire Star – ‘Farming Talk with Christine Downes.’
Lord Plumb presented Christine with her award at a ceremony held in Oxfordshire.
Joshua Hosier, R.A.B.I deputy chairman, said: “Christine is very passionate about R.A.B.I and works tirelessly both in awareness and fundraising. Knowing R.A.B.I as she does, she’s a wonderful ambassador for us, giving talks, going to cheque presentations, and representing the charity at Shrewsbury Livestock Market. You can see why every committee could with a Christine.”
Christine added: “I’m very humbled to follow so many people who have done so much for this valuable charity. I would like to dedicate this award to the enduring friendship of the Shropshire committee.”
