Volunteer FAQs
It’s natural to have questions when you’re starting something new. We have answered some common ones below.
We will get back to you within one week of applying. After you apply, we’ll review your application and arrange an informal chat either in person or over the phone. This will give us a chance to explore your skills and interest in the role, and gives you the opportunity to ask us any questions you have. It’s as much about your decision as it is ours.

Volunteering with us can be flexible; you can invest as much or as little time as you’d like into volunteering. We have a variety of roles that require differing levels of time commitment, so you can choose the role that is right for you.
Yes, you will need to be over the age of 18 to volunteer with us.
It depends on the role you apply for, but some training may be required. This will be mentioned on the role description.

If you would like to volunteer during your stay you can volunteer with us for a maximum of 30 days. When applying, please provide the UK address you’ll be staying at.
If you’re an international student studying in the UK, you are able to volunteer with us during the period you are enrolled at a UK university. Please provide the UK address you’ll be staying at. You must always ensure that you do not have restrictions on your visa preventing you from volunteering whilst in the UK.
If your circumstances are otherwise, unfortunately we cannot offer you a volunteering opportunity. Please note we’re unable to sponsor visa applications but are grateful for your interest in wishing to support us. Should you wish to support us in another capacity, please see our how you can help pages.
Yes. If you want to try something different, let us know and we can discuss other suitable roles.
Yes. We’d love you to get involved with us in different roles and will appreciate all the time you can give. It may mean that you’ll be contacted by us more than once to discuss these different opportunities.
Yes, so long as there are suitable roles for you both. You can both volunteer at the relevant times.
Yes. It will depend on your location and what role you’re interested in.
Having a criminal record does not necessarily mean you can’t volunteer with us. If you want to apply for a role, there’s a section on the application form for you to add details about the offence. We will then make a decision based on the information you’ve provided and the role you’ve applied for.
