RABI Volunteer Newsletter – April 2026
Welcome to the latest online newsletter for RABI volunteers.
Coming together in March
It’s been a busy month across our volunteer committees, with a wide range of events bringing farming communities together.
From gala dinners and clay shoots in Kent, to Staffordshire’s annual dinner with Nigel Owens and Devon’s Dawlish dinner with John Lee OBE, as well as farmhouse breakfasts in Gloucestershire, East Sussex, Warwickshire and North Yorkshire, a tractor run in Monmouthshire, quizzes in Leicestershire and bingo in Carmarthenshire, it’s been encouraging to see such energy and commitment.
Alongside this, supporters beyond our committees have also stepped forward, with initiatives such as the annual Bucks Ball helping to raise both funds and awareness.
Across these events, hundreds of people came together, raising vital funds, strengthening connections and increasing awareness of RABI. Thank you to everyone involved.

A new volunteer role shaped by your feedback
Earlier this year, we invited volunteers to help shape new community roles, and the response was strong. Our Community Champions Working Group, made up of volunteers and supporters from across England and Wales, shared valuable feedback and local insight that helped guide this work. We are grateful for the time and ideas they contributed.
Thanks to this input, we’re pleased to introduce our new Information Volunteer role. This flexible opportunity supports volunteers to raise awareness by sharing helpline cards, posters and leaflets in local places where farming people gather.
Volunteers will be supported with clear guidance, materials and a dedicated contact, making it easy to get involved in a way that fits around their time.
Committee Spring meet-ups update – join us online
Thank you to everyone who expressed interest in our spring meet-ups. Due to low registration numbers, we have made the decision to cancel the in-person sessions.
To make it easier for more volunteers to take part, we have added two additional online sessions, offering more flexibility to join from wherever you are.
Available online sessions:
- Wednesday 13 May | 2:00–3:30pm
- Wednesday 13 May | 7:00–8:30pm
- Thursday 14 May | 7:00–8:30pm
These sessions will provide an update on activity across RABI, including the upcoming launch of FarmersAid, key messages for summer shows, and the latest on new resources and the volunteer portal. They will also offer an opportunity to connect with other volunteers and share feedback.
If you were booked onto an in-person session, you should have received a separate update, we hope you can join one of the online sessions instead. If you’re already booked onto the original online session and can still attend, there’s nothing more you need to do.
We hope to see many of you online and thank you as always for your continued support.
Volunteer Survey: your last chance to give us your feedback
Thank you to everyone who has already completed the Volunteer Survey.
The deadline is Thursday 30 April 2026.
Your feedback helps us understand what’s working well, where improvements can be made, and how we can better support you in your role. The survey takes around five minutes to complete.
